NEWS RELEASE-- The two major party candidates for the 10th district seat in the Kansas Senate will face the voters – and each other – at a joint candidate forum Oct. 10 at Mill Valley High School.

Democrat Pete Roman and Republican Mary Pilcher Cook are vying for the open seat being vacated by former Sen. Nick Jordan. The Oct. 10 event is the only joint appearance by the two candidates to be scheduled to date that is open to the general public. The candidate forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Johnson County. Reporter Jim Sullinger of The Kansas City Star will serve as moderator, and members of the public will have an opportunity to question the candidates.

The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday Oct. 10 at Mill Valley High School, 5900 Monticello Rd., Shawnee.
